Shangzhou District (which in Chinese is written as Chinese: 商州区, and pronounced Shāngzhōu Qū) is an important area in China. It's like a special part of a bigger city. This district is located within Shangluo Municipality, which is in the Shaanxi province of China. The main government offices for Shangluo Municipality are found right here in Shangzhou District.
This district covers a large area of about 2,645.62 square kilometers. That's a lot of land! Back in November 2010, there were 531,646 people living here.
Shangzhou District used to be called Shangluo (上洛). This old name meant "up Luo" because the district is located upstream of the Luo River.
