Sharif Naidhajavovich Sharifov is a famous wrestler from Azerbaijan. He was born on November 11, 1988, in Gunukh, Dagestan. Sharifov is known for winning many important medals in wrestling, including a gold medal at the Olympic Games. He started his career representing Russia and later competed for Azerbaijan.

London 2012 Olympics
At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Sharifov won a gold medal. He competed in the 84 kg weight class. He showed great skill and strength throughout the competition. In the final match, he defeated Jaime Espinal from Puerto Rico to win the gold. This was a huge achievement for him and for Azerbaijan.
Rio 2016 Olympics
Sharifov continued his Olympic journey at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. This time, he competed in the 86 kg weight class. He won a bronze medal at these Games. He won matches against wrestlers like Bi Shengfeng and Zbigniew Baranowski. Even though he lost to Abdulrashid Sadulaev, he fought hard in the repechage round. He won the bronze medal by defeating Pedro Ceballos.

Besides the Olympics, Sharif Sharifov has also achieved great success in other major wrestling events.
World Championships Medals
Sharifov has won several medals at the World Wrestling Championships.
- In 2009, he won a bronze medal in the 84 kg category in Herning.
- In 2011, he won a gold medal in Istanbul, again in the 84 kg category. This made him a world champion!
- In 2019, he won a silver medal in Nur-Sultan, competing in the 97 kg category.
European Championships Medals
He has also performed well at the European Wrestling Championships.
- In 2010, he won a silver medal in Baku in the 84 kg category.
- In 2011, he won a bronze medal in Dortmund, also in the 84 kg category.
- In 2018, he won another silver medal in Kaspiysk, this time in the 92 kg category.
- In 2019, he won a gold medal in Bucharest in the 92 kg category, becoming a European champion.
Other Achievements
Sharifov also won a bronze medal at the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku. He competed in the 86 kg weight class at this event.
