Before becoming a director, Sharon Lewis was an actress and author. She also hosted popular TV shows. In 2001, she became the host of counterSpin on CBC Television. She then hosted ZeD, another show for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Sharon Lewis started her career on counterSpin with a special report. She has described herself as an "activist." She believes journalists should help bring about change through information. After she left ZeD, Ziya Tong became the new host. Later, Sharon Lewis started her own company called urbansoul inc.
