Shawn Farquhar was born on June 7, 1962. He is a famous Canadian magician and illusionist. He is best known for winning the "Grand Prix World Champion of Magic" award. This is one of the highest honors in the world of magic, given by the International Federation of Magic Societies.

Amazing Magic Awards
Shawn Farquhar has won many important awards for his magic. He is the only magician ever to win first place at the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) for both stage magic and close-up magic (sleight of hand). He has also been named "Magician of the Year" twice by the Canadian Association of Magicians.
In 2009, he won his biggest award at the FISM World Championship of Magic in Beijing. This event is often called the "Olympics of Magic." He won the Grand Prix World Championship for Close Up magic. He also won a world championship in card magic. In 2010, he was again named Canadian Magician of the Year. This made him the only person to win this top Canadian award twice.

- A signed playing card appears inside a sealed deck of cards.
- A musical card trick called "Shape of My Heart."
- "MatriXpress" and "Torn 2 Pieces" are other popular tricks.
- "Extended Stay" and a special wallet trick called "C2W."
- A cups and balls routine that ends with the cups becoming solid.
- A comedy book trick called "Sheer Luck: the Comedy Book Test." He used this trick to fool the famous magicians Penn & Teller!

Shawn Farquhar has appeared on many TV shows.
- In 1989, he was a contestant on a Canadian game show called Talk About.
- On January 13, 2010, he was a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ellen DeGeneres called him "the best sleight-of-hand magician in the world." He showed her a signed card appearing in a sealed deck. He also tore up a signed photo and then made it whole again.
Fooling Penn & Teller
Shawn Farquhar is famous for fooling the magicians Penn and Teller not once, but twice!
- In 2011, he was on the UK show Penn & Teller: Fool Us. On this show, magicians try to do a trick that Penn & Teller cannot figure out. Shawn successfully fooled them! He made a signed card appear reversed inside a brand new, still-wrapped deck of cards. Because he fooled them, he won the chance to perform in their Las Vegas show.
- In 2012, Shawn was a guest on the Canadian TV show Steven and Chris. He showed some tricks, including an early version of his comedy book test.
- He returned to Penn & Teller: Fool Us on July 13, 2016. This time, he asked the new host, Alyson Hannigan, to help him with his "Sheer Luck" book test. He seemed to recall random pages from the book The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. He fooled Penn & Teller again! This made him the first magician to ever fool them twice on the show. He won another chance to perform in their Las Vegas show.
Lost In The Shuffle Documentary
In 2024, a documentary film called Lost In The Shuffle was shown in theaters. In this movie, Shawn Farquhar explores old mysteries hidden in a deck of cards. He also visits other magicians to learn about their favorite card tricks.
