Shawne Brian Williams (born February 16, 1986) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the University of Memphis. In 2006, he was chosen as the 17th overall pick in the 2006 NBA draft by the Indiana Pacers.

High School Basketball Star
Shawne Williams was a top basketball player in high school. Experts called him a "five-star recruit." This means he was one of the best young players in the country. In 2005, he was ranked as the 5th best shooting guard and the 15th best player overall. He played for Hamilton High School in Memphis, Tennessee.
College Career at Memphis
Williams played college basketball for the University of Memphis. In his first year (2005–06), he played in 36 games and started 34 of them. He scored about 13.2 points and grabbed 6.2 rebounds per game. He also had 1.4 steals and blocks per game.
He was the best freshman in the Conference USA league for scoring and rebounding. Williams was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Conference USA tournament. This was after he averaged 18 points and 6.7 rebounds in three games.
Playing in the NBA
Shawne Williams started his professional career in the NBA.
Early Years with the Pacers and Mavericks
Williams signed with the Indiana Pacers in July 2006. He scored 13 points in his very first NBA game against the Chicago Bulls. In 2008, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks.
Time with the Knicks and Nets
In 2010, Williams was traded to the New Jersey Nets. A few days later, the Nets let him go. Later that year, the New York Knicks signed him. This was his best season in the NBA. He played an important role coming off the bench for the Knicks. The team even made it to the 2011 NBA playoffs.
In 2011, Williams signed a new contract with the New Jersey Nets. However, in 2012, the Nets traded him to the Portland Trail Blazers. He never played a game for the Trail Blazers.
Later NBA Teams
In 2013, Williams played for Guangzhou Liu Sui in China. Later that year, he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. He played for them for a while but was later released. He also played for the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the NBA G League, which is like a minor league for the NBA. He briefly rejoined the Lakers for a 10-day contract.
In 2014, Williams signed with the Miami Heat. He was later traded to the New Orleans Pelicans but was quickly released. He then joined the Detroit Pistons. In 2015, he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, but they also released him.
Final Professional Years
In 2017, Williams joined the Iowa Wolves in the NBA G League. In 2019, he played for Al-Riffa in the Bahraini Premier League before ending his career.
Personal Life
Shawne Williams has a strong connection to basketball. His older brother, who passed away, last saw him play at Madison Square Garden. This made Williams choose to play for the New York Knicks when he had the chance.
Shawne Williams is married to Jessica Dime, who is a rapper and was on the TV show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. They have two children: a daughter named Blessing (born in 2018) and a son named Wisdom (born in 2023).
