Sheek Louch's Music Journey
Early Life and Forming The Lox
When Sheek Louch was about 12 years old, his friend Jason Phillips, also known as Jadakiss, inspired him to start rapping. They both loved music and decided to form a group. Later, they teamed up with Styles P to create the hip hop trio called The Lox.
The famous singer Mary J. Blige discovered the talented trio. Soon after, they signed a record deal with Sean Combs's company, Bad Boy Records. Their first album, named Money, Power & Respect, was released on January 13, 1998. It was a big step for the group.
Moving to Ruff Ryders and Solo Career
After some time, Sheek Louch and the other members of The Lox decided to leave Bad Boy Records. They then signed a new deal with their management company, Ruff Ryders. Ruff Ryders started its own record label in the late 1990s. This label was also home to another well-known rapper, DMX. The Lox released their second album, We Are the Streets, on January 25, 2000, under the Ruff Ryders label.
Sheek Louch also had big dreams of being a business owner. He began working on their own brand called D-Block. He helped build a music studio and looked for new talented artists to join their team. In October 2006, he opened a D-Block car wash and gas station. This business was in their hometown of Yonkers, New York.
Solo Albums and Collaborations
Sheek Louch released his first solo album, Walk Witt Me, in 2003. It came out through D-Block Records and Universal Records. His fifth album, Silverback Gorilla, was released in 2008. This album featured a popular song called "Good Love." The song used parts of older songs by Betty Wright.
Sheek Louch has also worked with other artists. He teamed up with Ghostface Killah for a joint album called Wu Block. This album featured members from both Wu-Tang Clan and D-Block. They got the idea for the album while touring and recording together. In January 2017, Ghostface Killah and Sheek Louch announced they were working on a second album together.
