Sheldon is a small, unincorporated community located in Houston County, Minnesota, in the United States. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it's usually part of a larger township. Sheldon is found within Sheldon Township.
History
Sheldon has a simple but interesting past. A post office, which is a place where mail is sent and received, was opened in Sheldon in 1856. This means people living there could send and get letters and packages.
However, the post office didn't stay open forever. It closed down in 1903. The community of Sheldon was named after one of the people who helped start it. His name was Julius C. Sheldon.
