Sheree Atcheson (born 28 February 1991) is a computer scientist from Northern Ireland. She was born in Sri Lanka. Sheree is a leader in making workplaces fair for everyone. She works as a Group Vice-President for Diversity & Inclusion at Valtech.

Before this, she held important roles at companies like Peakon, Monzo, and Deloitte. Sheree has been recognized as one of the most influential women in UK technology. She is also a Global Ambassador for Women Who Code, an organization that helps women in tech.

Sheree's Early Life and Education

Sheree Atcheson was born in Sri Lanka. When she was just three weeks old, a family in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, adopted her. She grew up there and went to St Patrick's Academy, Dungannon for school.

As a child, Sheree loved playing computer games with her brother. This sparked her interest in technology. She decided she wanted to work with computers when she grew up. She later studied computer science at Queen's University Belfast. In her class, only one out of ten students were girls. This experience made Sheree want to help more women get into technology.

Her Career in Tech

After finishing university, Sheree started her career as a software engineer. She later joined Deloitte, a big company, where she worked as a business consultant. She helped companies plan their strategies.

Sheree then became a leader in making workplaces more inclusive. This means making sure everyone feels welcome and has equal chances. She helped create and put into action Deloitte's plan for inclusion. In 2019, she became the Head of Diversity and Inclusion at Monzo, a popular bank. Later, she joined Peakon as their Global Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Sheree has also written articles for famous magazines like Forbes and The Guardian.

Helping Others: Sheree's Advocacy Work

Sheree Atcheson has done a lot to help others in the tech world. She played a key role in bringing Women Who Code to the United Kingdom. This group helps women learn and grow in technology jobs. Since 2013, she has helped the UK branch grow to over 8,000 members. More than 1,000 of these members are in Belfast. Sheree is now a Global Ambassador for Women Who Code.

She also started a project called "I am Lanka." This project celebrates inspiring people from Sri Lanka. Sheree began this project while looking for her birth mother. She received many messages from Sri Lankan people who felt inspired by her story. They wanted to share their own experiences too.

Awards and Recognition

Sheree Atcheson has received many awards for her work. Computer Weekly named her one of the Most Influential Women in UK tech. WeAreTheCity also chose her as one of the United Kingdom's Rising Stars.

In 2019, she was named Graduate of the Year by Queen's University Belfast. The Financial Times listed her as one of the Top 100 BAME Leaders influencing the Tech sector. While working at Deloitte, she helped them win the Women in Tech Employer of the Year Award in 2019.
