Sherman Hamilton (born April 23, 1972) is a Canadian who used to play professional basketball. He was a very important member of the Canadian men's national basketball team for many years. Today, he works as a basketball expert, sharing his knowledge on Sportsnet and NBA TV Canada.

Playing College Basketball
Sherman Hamilton grew up in Malton, a neighborhood in Mississauga, Ontario. He became a skilled point guard, standing 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 190 pounds. He played college basketball at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) from 1994 to 1997. He was part of the VCU Rams team.
During his three years with the Rams, he scored 881 points, averaging about 9.8 points per game. He was also great at passing the ball, giving out 4.6 assists per game. He left VCU as one of the top five players in career assists. In the 1995-96 season, he was chosen for the Colonial Athletic Association Second Team.
Playing Professionally Overseas
After college, Hamilton played basketball in other countries. In 1997–98, he played two games for a Finnish team called Tapiolan Honka. The next season, 1998–99, he played 41 games for Honka, averaging 16.4 points per game. His team finished second in the Finnish league that year. He also played in the FIBA Korać Cup with Honka.
In 1999, Hamilton played briefly in Argentina for Belgrano de San Nicolás. Later, in February 2001, he joined SSV Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany's top basketball league. He played 16 games, averaging 15.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. He once scored a season-high 29 points for Ulm. After playing in Switzerland, Hamilton joined BC Žalgiris in Lithuania in December 2001. He played 28 games in the Lithuanian league, averaging 8 points. He also played in five EuroLeague games for Žalgiris.
Representing Team Canada
Sherman Hamilton was a key player for the Canadian national team. He played for Canada in the 2000 Summer Olympics. He also competed in the 1998 and 2002 FIBA World Championships.
He played a huge role in helping Team Canada get to the 2000 Olympics. In a qualifying game against Puerto Rico, he made seven important free throws in the last three minutes, securing their spot. He played a total of 116 games for the Canadian national team between 1995 and 2002.
Coaching and Analyzing
After his playing career, Hamilton continued to be involved in basketball. In 2005, he worked as an assistant coach for Canada's Cadet Men's National Team. He also coached the Development Men's National Team at the World University Games in Turkey. In 2006, he became an assistant coach for Canada's Men's National Team.
In recent years, Sherman Hamilton has become a well-known basketball analyst. Since the 2008–09 season, he has provided expert commentary for Toronto Raptors games on NBA TV Canada. He helps fans understand the game better with his insights.
