About Shevrin Jones
Shevrin Jones was born in Miami Gardens, Florida. He went to Florida A&M University. There, he earned a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology in 2006. After college, he came back to South Florida. He taught Advanced Placement Chemistry in Broward County schools. Later, he taught Biology at Florida Atlantic University High School. In 2017, Jones earned a Master of Education degree. In 2022, he completed his PhD in Educational Leadership from the same university.
In 2016, Jones had an accident at the gym. He injured his lower spinal cord. Doctors thought he might not walk again. But after surgery and physical therapy, he was able to walk with a cane after seven weeks. This showed his strong determination.
Time in the Florida House of Representatives
In 2012, new districts were created for the Florida House of Representatives. Jones decided to run in the new 101st District. This district included cities like Hollywood, Miramar, and Pembroke Pines. He was the only candidate who stayed in the race. This meant he won the election without anyone running against him.
Jones was re-elected every two years without opposition. He served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2012 to 2020.
