Shigeru Morioka (森岡 茂, Morioka Shigeru, born 12 August 1973) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder during his career.

Shigeru Morioka was born in Ozu, Japan, on August 12, 1973. He became a professional football player after finishing high school. He is well-known for his time playing for several Japanese clubs.

Club Teams: Where Morioka Played

Morioka started his professional career with Gamba Osaka in 1992. He quickly became an important player for the team. From 1994, he often played as an offensive midfielder. He helped his team score goals and create chances.

After playing for Gamba Osaka for several years, he moved to Kyoto Purple Sanga in 1999. In 2000, he joined Vissel Kobe. He then returned to Gamba Osaka in 2002. He continued to play many matches for them.

Later in his career, in 2006, Morioka joined Banditonce Kobe. This team played in the Regional Leagues. He played there until he retired from professional football at the end of the 2008 season.

National Team: Representing Japan

In July 1996, Shigeru Morioka was chosen to play for the Japan U-23 national team. This was a big honor for him. He got to play in the 1996 Summer Olympics.

During the Olympics, he played one match. This game was against Hungary. Japan won two matches in the tournament. However, they did not make it past the first round. One of Japan's most famous wins was against Brazil in their first game. This victory is famously known as the "Miracle of Miami" in Japan.
