Shinichiro Takahashi (高橋 真一郎, Takahashi Shin'ichirō, born October 27, 1957) is a well-known Japanese football player and manager. He was born in Fukuyama, Japan, and became famous for his skills on the field. After his playing days, he moved into coaching, helping many teams.
Playing Football
Shinichiro Takahashi was born in Fukuyama on October 27, 1957. After finishing his studies at Osaka University of Economics, he joined a local football team called Toyo Industries in 1980. This team later changed its name to Mazda and then Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
Takahashi was a regular player, usually playing as a forward or an offensive midfielder. This meant he helped score goals and create chances for his team. Even though his club had some tough times in the Japan Soccer League, they did very well in the 1987 Emperor's Cup, finishing in second place.
In 1992, the old Japan Soccer League was replaced by a new league called the J1 League. Sadly, Takahashi had some injuries that made it hard for him to play much. He decided to stop playing football professionally at the end of the 1993 season.
Becoming a Coach
After he stopped playing, Shinichiro Takahashi started a new career as a coach. He began coaching at Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 1994, the same club where he played for many years.
In 2000, he moved to Gamba Osaka and became a manager for their youth team. This means he helped train and guide younger players. He returned to Sanfrecce in 2003. In 2004, he joined Yokohama F. Marinos, where he coached their youth team until 2006 and then became a coach for their main team in 2007.
In 2008, Takahashi moved to Kashiwa Reysol. He was a coach there in 2008 and then became the main manager in 2009. However, the team didn't do very well that year, and he left his role in July.
He went back to Sanfrecce again in 2010. In 2012, he joined Tokyo Verdy as a coach. Later that year, the main manager, Ryoichi Kawakatsu, left, and Takahashi took over as the new manager. He finished his role at the end of the 2012 season.
