Leionema lamprophyllum, also called shiny phebalium, is a type of shrub. It grows naturally only in Australia. This means you won't find it growing wild anywhere else in the world!

What Does it Look Like?

This shrub can grow quite tall, reaching up to 2 metres high. That's about the height of a very tall person!

Leaves

The leaves of the shiny phebalium are small. They are usually between 3 and 10 millimetres long. They are also narrow, about 2 to 4 millimetres wide.

Flowers

When spring comes, the shiny phebalium produces pretty white flowers. These flowers add a lovely touch to the plant.

Different Types of Shiny Phebalium

Scientists have found three slightly different kinds of shiny phebalium. These are called subspecies. They are:

  • Leionema lamprophyllum subsp. lamprophyllum
  • Leionema lamprophyllum subsp. obovatum
  • Leionema lamprophyllum subsp. orbiculare

Where it Lives

You can find the shiny phebalium in a few different places in Australia. It grows in the states of New South Wales and Victoria. It also lives in the Australian Capital Territory.
