Shiremanstown is a small town, called a borough, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. It's located near Hampden Township to the north and Lower Allen Township to the south. Shiremanstown is also part of the larger Harrisburg and Carlisle area. In 2010, about 1,569 people lived there.

A Look at Shiremanstown's History
Before 1797, a German Reformed church and school were started near Shiremanstown. This place became known as the "Peace Church." Almost 100 years later, the old log building was still used, but only as a school.
As the towns around it grew, the church's group of followers also got bigger. This group eventually became known as St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. In 1897, the church leaders bought an old church building in Shiremanstown called Messiah church. This building was first used for evening services. Later, it became the main church home during winter. It was used regularly until a fire destroyed it on September 2, 1908.
Where is Shiremanstown Located?
Shiremanstown is in the eastern part of Cumberland County. You can find it at coordinates 40°13′22″N 76°57′15″W / 40.222889°N 76.954159°W. The town is bordered by Hampden Township to the north. To the south, it shares a border with Lower Allen Township.
Shiremanstown is about 6 miles (10 km) southwest of Harrisburg. Harrisburg is the capital city of Pennsylvania. The United States Census Bureau says that Shiremanstown covers about 0.31 square miles (0.77 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the borough.
