Shohreh's Early Life and Music Journey
Shohreh Solati was born in Tehran, the capital city of Iran. Her family was well-off and many of them were artists and entertainers. From a very young age, Shohreh loved music. She started singing when she was just seven years old!
Later, she went to the Tehran Conservatory of Music. This is a special school where she learned how to sing and play the clarinet. Her very first music album was called Dokhtar-e-Mashreghi, which means "Eastern Girl" in Persian. This album was a big hit and made her quite famous. Teen magazines in Iran in the 1970s often featured her, making her popular with young people.
Moving to a New Home
Just before the big changes in Iran in 1979, Shohreh traveled to the United States for some concerts. Because of new rules that affected entertainers, she couldn't go back home to Iran. So, she decided to stay in New York City for a while and got married there.
It was hard for her and other Iranian singers who had left the country to start their careers again. But after her daughter was born, Shohreh became even more focused on her music.
In 1982, Shohreh moved from New York City to Los Angeles, California. Many other Iranian musicians who had also left Iran had settled there. She started working with talented songwriters, music makers, and arrangers. Together, they created and released many new albums.
Music That Touched Hearts
Most of Shohreh's albums from this time reminded people of the good old days in Iran. This made her music very popular with a lot of people, and her fame grew quickly. Her songs often expressed a longing for Iran, which created a strong connection with Iranians who were also living far from home. Her music brought them comfort and a sense of togetherness.
Some of her well-known albums from this period include Jaan Jaan, Salam, Sedaayeh Paa, and Shenidam. Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, Shohreh released more albums, and each one was praised. She also performed many concerts with other famous singers like Siavash Shams and Andy Madadian.
A special album called Zan (which means "Woman") came out in 1994. This album received amazing reviews from music critics. The songs in Zan talked about important topics like women's rights and their important roles in society.
Shohreh's Music in the New Millennium
As the year 2000 arrived, Shohreh continued to release more albums. Some of these were Ghesseh Goo, Saayeh, Atr, Safar, Pishooni, and Havas. She has actually released more music albums since leaving Iran than she did before the changes in her home country.
In 2008, Shohreh held a big concert at the Kodak Theatre to celebrate her CD called "Ashegham." After "Ashegham," she released other songs like "Esrar," "Maloomeh," "Dooset Daram Naro," "Bargard," and "Shabet Bekheir."
