Ebrahim Hamedi, known as Ebi, is a famous Iranian pop singer. He was born in 1949. Ebi started his music career in Tehran and Karaj, Iran. He first became known as part of a band, and later as a solo artist. He moved to Los Angeles in 1977. Ebi has been making music for over 50 years. He has released almost 200 songs and more than 30 albums.

Early Life and Beginnings

Ebi was born in Khorramdareh. His father was from Arak and his mother was from Karaj. He is the oldest of six children in his family.

When he was young, Ebi loved to sing. He would sing for his family, schoolmates, and friends in his neighborhood. He also shared that he used to recite the Quran at school from a young age.

Ebi was inspired by famous bands like The Beatles. In the mid-1960s, he formed a band called "the Rebels" with Shahram Shabpareh and Siavash Ghomayshi. He was also part of other bands like "Sunboys" and "Black Cats". After these experiences, he started his career as a solo singer.

In 1977, Ebi left Iran to go on a music tour in the United States. He stayed there after the Islamic Revolution happened in 1979.

Famous Albums and Songs

In 1990, Ebi released an album called Noon O Panir O Sabzi with another singer named Dariush. They also performed a concert together at the Universal Amphitheatre.

One of Ebi's most famous songs is Khalij-e Hamishegi-ye Fars. This song is about the Persian Gulf. The album Khalij was named after this important song. Ebi has said he is very proud of performing this song.

In 1995, Ebi released the album Setarehaye Sorbi. The lyrics for this album were written by Iraj Janatie Ataie, and the music was composed by Siavash Ghomayshi. Two songs from this album, Kee Ashkato Pak Mikoneh and Setarehaye Sorbi, were chosen by fans as his top songs.

Ebi has also sung songs that talk about important social topics. One such song is Hala (1999), which was written by the poet Mina Assadi.

In 2009, Ebi sang the song "Tasmim" (Decision). This song was a response to the 2009 Iranian presidential election.

Collaborations and Tours

Ebi has worked with many other artists. He collaborated with Shadmehr Aghili on several songs. They also went on a joint world tour called "Royaye Ma" in 2012.

In 2014, Ebi released the song Nostalgia with Googoosh. They then started a joint world concert tour also called "Nostalgia," which began with a concert in Dubai.

Ebi released his album Jan-e Javani in 2014 and started a world tour for it. His most recent album, Lalehzaar, was released in 2019. This album includes the song Koocheye Nastaran, which is about the Iran–Iraq War.

In 2020, Ebi appeared on the TV show Persia's Got Talent.

Ebi has also supported important events, such as the Iranian protests. He started a new world tour called "The Love Project" in 2022. This tour was delayed because of COVID-19.

Personal Life

Ebi has three daughters from his first marriage to Forooze Meghdadi Hamedi. They were married for 25 years before they divorced.

He now lives in Marbella, Spain, and Los Angeles with his second wife, Mahshid Hamedi Boromand. Ebi also has a stepson from Mahshid. In the early 2000s, he lived in Sweden.

In 1974, Ebi won first place as a singer at a festival in Turkey with his song "Shekar."
