About Siavash Ghomayshi

Siavash Ghomayshi was born in Ahvaz, Iran on June 11, 1945. He began writing music when he was just 12 years old. Siavash has a master's degree in classical jazz from the Royal Society of Arts in London, England. He focused on pop music during his studies.
While in England, he worked with popular bands like the Avengers and the Insects. He was their lead guitarist and lead singer. When he returned to Iran at age 25, he mostly worked as a composer. Ghomayshi has created many tunes and lyrics for famous Persian artists.
His first song, Ghayeghran (Boatman), was written for Zia when Siavash was only 13. Even though he started as a composer, he later released his first song as a singer, Farangis. Since then, he has continued to work as a singer, composer, and lyricist. He lived in Iran until he was 33, then moved to the United States to continue his music career.
In recent years, Siavash Ghomayshi has explored electronic music. This has brought new sounds to his music and to Iranian pop music in general. He is known as the "father of trance music" in Iran.
Among the 18 albums Ghomayshi has released, some of his most popular include Ragbaar, Roozhaye Bi Khatereh (Days with No Memories), and Yadegari (Memento) from 2011. Many young singers today follow his unique style because his voice is so popular.
While his albums are not usually about politics, he often expresses how much he misses his home country. Ghomayshi has also helped with albums by other musicians. These include The Story of Yours, The Story of Mine and Setarehaye Sorbi (1995). His music is considered Persian-language pop/rock.
In 2011, he mentioned that Yadegari (Memento) might be his last album. However, his most recent album is Sargozasht (2017), which has nine songs. To keep his fans happy, he now releases new songs one by one as singles.
