Siavash Ghomayshi was born in Ahvaz, Iran. He started his music journey very early, becoming a composer when he was just 12 years old. He went to London, England, to study music. There, he earned a master's degree in classical jazz from the Royal Society of Arts. He focused on pop music during his studies.

While in England, Siavash played as a lead guitarist and singer for popular bands like the Avengers and the Insects. When he was 25, he returned to Iran. He then began his career mainly as a composer, creating many tunes and lyrics for famous Persian artists. His very first song, called Ghayeghran (Boatman), was written for Zia when Siavash was only 13.

Even though he started as a composer, Siavash later released his first song as a singer, called Farangis. Since then, he has continued to work as a singer, composer, music arranger, and lyricist. He lived in Iran until he was 33. After that, he moved to the United States to continue his music career.

Music Style and Influence

In recent years, Siavash Ghomayshi has explored electronic music. This has brought new sounds to his music and to Iranian pop music in general. He is even known as the father of trance music in Iran.

Siavash has released 18 albums so far. Some of his most popular albums include Ragbaar, Roozhaye Bi Khatereh (Days with No Memories), Bi Sarzamin-tar az Baad (More Homeless Than The Wind), Taak (The Vine), and Yadegari (Memento) from 2011. Many young singers today are inspired by his unique voice and style.

While his albums are mostly not about politics, Siavash often expresses how much he misses his home country. He has also worked on albums with other musicians. These include The Story of Yours, The Story of Mine, Setarehaye Sorbi (1995), and Shab-e Niloufari (2003). These albums were very popular and received great reviews. His music is known as Persian-language pop/rock. It has a different vocal style compared to many adult contemporary singers.

In 2011, Siavash mentioned in an interview that Yadegari (Memento) might be his last album. However, his most recent album, Sargozasht, was released in 2017 and has nine songs. To keep his fans happy, he now releases new songs one by one, as singles.
