Shook is a small, quiet place in Wayne County, Missouri, in the United States. It's what we call an unincorporated community. This means it's not officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's a group of homes and people living together in a specific area.
Where is Shook Located?
Shook is found right next to the beautiful Lake Wappapello area. It sits on a part of the lake known as the West Fork Lost Creek. You can reach Shook by following Missouri Route D. It is about sixteen miles north of a larger town called Poplar Bluff.
A Glimpse into Shook's History
Shook has a bit of history, even though it's a small community. For many years, it had its own post office. A post office is where people send and receive mail. The Shook post office was open from 1904 until 1999. The community itself was named after an early settler in the area, a person named George Shook.
