Jordan Johnson, born on September 11, 1989, is known as Shorty da Prince. He is an American radio DJ, a rapper, and a TV personality. From October 2012 to May 2013, he was one of the hosts for BET's popular show 106 & Park. Shorty da Prince is from St. Louis, Missouri. He later moved to Detroit, Michigan. There, he works as a radio host for Hot 107.5 radio station.

Shorty da Prince's Journey in Radio

Shorty da Prince began his radio career at a very young age. When he was just twelve years old, he won a contest to become a radio host. This happened at a station called KATZ 100.3 The Beat.

Becoming a Popular DJ

He started by hosting a Saturday morning show. Soon, he became a popular radio DJ in St. Louis. He even got the main evening slot, from 6 PM to midnight, Monday through Friday. He achieved all this while still attending high school.

Moving to New Cities

After gaining more experience, Shorty became one of the top radio personalities in St. Louis. He worked at WHHL HOT 104.1. In 2010, he decided to move to Detroit. There, he quickly got a job hosting a popular night show. This show was on HOT 107.5, a top hip hop station in the city. By 2015, you could hear Shorty on 93.9 WKYS in the DMV area (Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia).

In May 2014, Shorty also became the afternoon DJ for Cleveland radio station WENZ 107.9 FM.

Shorty da Prince in Television

Shorty soon realized he had more talents than just radio. He wanted to be in front of the camera too. He looked for chances in television. He quickly got a job as a reporter for BET's 106 & Park. Later, he became one of the main hosts of the show.

Shorty da Prince's Music Career

While working in radio, Shorty also followed his passion for music. When he was fifteen, he signed a music deal. This was with Track Boyz Entertainment, known for working with artists like Nelly. At that time, he used the stage name Shorty da Kid.

Signing with Atlantic Records

The Track Boyz helped Shorty da Kid go on a tour. He performed at showcases for big record labels. These included Universal, Def Jam, Capital, and Atlantic Records. During the Atlantic Records showcase, a media executive named Kevin Liles noticed Shorty. He was immediately signed to Atlantic Records.

Releasing Music and Changing Names

Shorty is most famous for his song "Wah Wah Wow." This song was a big hit in the summer of 2008. Even though he left Atlantic/Warner Bros Records in 2010, Shorty kept making music for his fans. After leaving the label, he changed his stage name from Shorty da Kid to Shorty da Prince.
