The Shreepali Basnet (also called Sripali Basnet or Sirupali) are an important group of people in Nepal. They are part of the larger Basnet family. They follow the Hindu religion. Many Shreepali Basnets were brave warriors and important leaders in the old Gorkha Kingdom.
A Look Back in Time
Some people say the Shrereepali Basnets originally came from a place called the Jumla Kingdom. They played a big role in running the Gorkha Kingdom. This was an important kingdom in Nepal's history.
Famous Leaders
One very famous Shreepali Basnet was Shivaram Singh Basnyat. He was a commander, which means a top leader, of the Gorkhali army. He helped lead their forces.
Family Traditions
Shreepali Basnets follow special family traditions. They believe they belong to the Bharadwaja Gotra. A Gotra is like a very old family line or clan.
Gods and Goddesses
They worship certain gods and goddesses as their family protectors. They call these their Kul Deuta, or clan deities. These include "Sishakoti Mahadev," "Veerabhadra," and "Mahakali." They also have an Ista Deuta, which is a special family deity. For them, this is "Dakshinkali."
