The Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium is a really old and important building in Shreveport, Louisiana. You can find it at 705 Elvis Presley Boulevard. It's an Art Deco style building, which means it has cool, geometric designs. It was built between 1926 and 1929 to remember the brave soldiers who served in World War I.
Because it's so special, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. Then, in 2008, it became a National Historic Landmark. This is a very important title for historic places in the United States. It's also part of the Shreveport Commercial Historic District, a group of important buildings in the city.

Building Design and Style
The Shreveport Municipal Auditorium was designed by architects Samuel G. Wiener Sr. and Seymour Van Os. They were part of a company called Jones, Roessle, Olschner & Wiener. The building was constructed by the Ashton Glassell Company. Both companies were from Shreveport.
Home of the Stars
The Municipal Memorial Auditorium is a huge place with a 3,200-seat auditorium. It hosts many different events like concerts, family shows, and even boxing matches. It's also home to the Stage of Stars Museum.
This auditorium is famous because it hosted a radio show called Louisiana Hayride. This show was on the air from 1948 to 1960. It helped many famous country and rockabilly music stars get their start.
Famous Performers
Many legendary musicians performed on the Louisiana Hayride stage. Some of these stars included Hank Williams, Slim Whitman, Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, and Johnny Horton.
One of the most famous performers who got his start here was Elvis Presley. He became a huge star after performing on the Louisiana Hayride!
Keeping the Auditorium Great
The auditorium has been updated over the years to make it even better. From 1994 to 2004, it went through many changes. These improvements included adding air conditioning and new restrooms. They also put in ramps and an elevator to make it easier for everyone to get around.
