Shreya Ghoshal (born on March 12, 1984) is a famous Indian singer. She is known for her amazing voice and how she can sing many different types of songs. Early Life and Musical Start
Shreya Ghoshal was born on March 12, 1984, in Berhampore, West Bengal, India. She grew up in a small town called Rawatbhata. Her father, Bishwajit Ghoshal, is an electrical engineer, and her mother, Sarmistha Ghoshal, studied literature.
Shreya started learning music at age four. Her mother helped her practice and sang Bengali songs with her. When she was six, she began formal training in classical music. She trained with famous composers like Kalyanji for 18 months.
In 1995, she won a national singing competition in New Delhi. In 1997, her family moved to Mumbai. There, she continued her studies and music training. In 2000, at age sixteen, she won the TV music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma on Zee TV. This win changed her life.
Her Amazing Singing Career
Shreya Ghoshal's first recording was a cover of a Marathi song called "Ganraj Rangi Nachto." Her first studio album, Bendhechhi Beena, came out in 1998. She released other albums in Bengali before her big movie debut.
Big Break in Bollywood (2002-2004)
Film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali noticed Shreya when she was on Sa Re Ga Ma. His mother saw her performance and told him about her. Bhansali felt Shreya's voice was perfect for the main character, Paro, in his film Devdas (2002).
