Shūichi Gonda (権田 修一, Gonda Shūichi, born 3 March 1989) is a Japanese professional footballer. He plays as a goalkeeper for Shimizu S-Pulse. Gonda has also played for the Japan national team. He represented Japan in the 2014 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.

Shūichi Gonda's Football Journey
Shūichi Gonda started his professional career at FC Tokyo in 2007. He played there for nine years until 2016. During his time with FC Tokyo, he played in 244 matches. He helped his team win four important trophies.
Gonda also played for Japan's national team. He made his first appearance for the senior team on January 6, 2010. This was in a game against Yemen for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualifier. He also played many games for Japan's youth teams.
Playing in Europe
In 2016, Gonda decided to try playing football outside Japan. He joined SV Horn in Austria on a loan. This team was owned by another famous Japanese player, Keisuke Honda. Gonda played 17 games for SV Horn.
After his time in Austria, Gonda returned to Japan. He joined Sagan Tosu in 2017 and played there until 2018. Then, he moved to Portugal in 2019. He signed with a Portuguese club called Portimonense.
Return to Japan
In 2021, Gonda came back to Japan. He joined Shimizu S-Pulse on a loan deal. After playing one season, his transfer became permanent. He continues to play as a goalkeeper for Shimizu S-Pulse.
