Shyam Ramsay (born May 17, 1952 – died September 18, 2019) was a famous Bollywood film director. He was part of a group known as the Ramsay Brothers. These seven brothers were very active in Indian cinema during the 1970s and 1980s. Shyam Ramsay was seen as the main creative mind of this group. They made many popular horror movies. Some of their well-known films include Bandh Darwaza, Purana Mandir, and Veerana.

The Ramsay Brothers: Masters of Horror
The Ramsay Brothers were famous for their horror films. They created a special style of scary movies in India. Their films often had spooky old mansions, ghosts, and thrilling stories. These movies were very popular with audiences. They helped define the horror genre in Indian cinema for many years.
From Big Screen to Small Screen
Towards the end of the 1980s, the popularity of their films started to change. At the same time, television was becoming very big in India. Many new private TV channels like Zee TV and Star Plus began. Shyam Ramsay decided to focus his energy on TV shows.
He created India's first horror TV series for Zee TV. It was called Zee Horror Show. This show was a huge success! Many fans still remember it today. Its popularity led to many fan groups online.
After Zee Horror Show, Shyam Ramsay also made episodes for other TV series. These included Saturday Suspense, X Zone, and Nagin. In 2008, he worked with his daughter, Saasha Ramsay. They directed a supernatural show for Sahara One called Neeli Aankhen. This show was about a female serpent with special powers.

Shyam Ramsay returned to making feature films in the 2000s. He started working on Dhund: The Fog in 2000. This movie was released on February 21, 2003. Later, he directed Ghutan in 2007. In 2010, he made a comedy horror film called Bachao. His last movie, Neighbours, came out in January 2014.
