Shykh Seraj (Bengali: শাইখ সিরাজ) was born on September 7, 1954. He is a well-known journalist from Bangladesh. He is also famous for his work helping farmers and improving agriculture in the country. For his important contributions, he received the Ekushey Padak in 1995 and the Independence Award in 2018 from the Government of Bangladesh.
Early Life and Education
Shykh Seraj completed his high school education at Khilgaon Govt. High School. He then went to Notre Dame College in Dhaka for his higher secondary studies. Later, he earned his Master's degree in geography from the University of Dhaka.
Career in Media and Agriculture
Shykh Seraj began his career in television in 1982. He co-hosted a popular TV show called Mati O Manush, which means Men and Soil, on Bangladesh Television. This program showed real-life stories and problems faced by farmers. It also offered solutions to help them.
In his work, Seraj often visited faraway places. He talked with farmers and filmed their lives. He looked for stories that could help others. He also encouraged young, educated people to get involved in farming. In 1999, he became the director of News at Channel i. In 2004, Seraj started a new show on Channel i. It was called Hridoye Mati O Manush, meaning Soil and Men in Heart. This show followed the same helpful format as his earlier program. He also created a fun game show. In this show, people competed to show off their best farming skills.
