Sibley Park is a fun city park in Mankato, Minnesota. It's located right where the Minnesota River and Blue Earth River meet. This park was created in 1887. It was named after Henry Hastings Sibley, who was the very first governor of Minnesota.
The park is divided into two main areas by a hill. The front part of the park has a stage for music shows, a special area where you can pet animals, and a big grassy field. You'll also find many beautiful gardens and paths for walking. The other side of the park, near the river, offers great views of the water. In winter, this side has hills perfect for sledding. During summer, it has fields for softball and courts for tennis. There's also a playground for kids and spots to have barbecues.
Fun Events at Sibley Park
Every year, a group called Kiwanis International puts on a special event called Holiday Lights. This event happens every night from late November to late December.
Kiwanis Holiday Lights
The main goal of the Kiwanis Holiday Lights is to create a wonderful celebration of lights for everyone in the Greater Mankato Area. It builds on old traditions and helps the communities it serves. It also collects food donations for people who need help. Sibley Park has been the home for this amazing event every year since 2012.
