Sidney Nathan Ramin (born January 22, 1919 – died July 1, 2019) was an American musician. He was very talented at creating music for movies, TV shows, and plays. He was an orchestrator, which means he decided which instruments would play which parts of a song. He was also an arranger, meaning he changed existing music to fit different groups of instruments or singers. Plus, he was a composer, so he wrote original music.

Sid Ramin's Life Story
Sidney Nathan Ramin was born in 1919. His father, Ezra Ramin, was from Russia and worked with windows. His mother was Beatrice D. Ramin. Sid grew up in a neighborhood called Roxbury in Boston.
Sid Ramin worked on many famous TV shows, movies, and theater productions. He even wrote the theme song and words for "Smile, You're on Candid Camera" for the TV show Candid Camera in the 1960s. This was a fun show that used a hidden camera to film people's reactions.
Early in his career, Sid often worked with another arranger named Robert Ginzler. They worked together on the musical Gypsy. One of his most famous projects was West Side Story. He helped arrange the music for this movie with Leonard Bernstein and Irwin Kostal. He also wrote the song "Music to Watch Girls By", which became popular in 1967.
Sid Ramin married Gloria Breit, who was a singer and a model, on January 9, 1949. They had a son named Ronald "Ron" Ramin, who also became a composer, just like his dad.
Sid Ramin lived a long life. He celebrated his 100th birthday on January 22, 2019. He passed away later that year on July 1.
