The Sierra de Gúdar is a cool mountain range in Spain. It stretches across two different areas: Gúdar-Javalambre and Maestrazgo in Aragon, and Alto Mijares in the Valencian Community. The highest point in this range is a peak called Peñarroya, which stands tall at 2,019 meters (about 6,624 feet)!
Exploring the Gúdar Mountains
This mountain range is found at the eastern edge of the Iberian System, which is a large mountain system in Spain. The Sierra de Nogueruelas is like an extension of the Gúdar mountains, reaching out further to the east. Another part of the Sierra de Gúdar is called the Sierra Mayabona.
Winter Wonderland
The tops of these mountains often get covered in beautiful snow during the winter months. One of the highest peaks in the Land of Valencia, Cabezo de las Cruces, is located here. It reaches 1,710 meters high!
Towns and Villages
Mora de Rubielos is the most important town in this mountainous area. The whole mountain range is named after the town of Gúdar. You can also find Valdelinares here, which is special because it's the highest town in Spain that is also the main town of its own municipality.
