Siete Aguas has a long and interesting history. One important event happened a long time ago.
Changes for Muslims in the 1500s
In the year 1525, Charles I of Spain made an important rule. This rule said that all remaining Muslims in the Crown of Aragon had to leave or become Christian.
It was very hard for Muslims to leave the country. They had to travel a long way to find a ship. If they did not leave by a certain date, they could be made into slaves. Another rule said that if they did not leave, they had to show proof of being baptized. They were also told to listen to Christian teachings without arguing.
