Silvía Night (Icelandic: Silvía Nótt) is a funny, made-up character from Iceland. She stars in a comedy TV show called Sjáumst með Silvíu Nótt (which means The Silvia Night Show). This show was on the TV channel Skjár einn.

The character of Silvía Night was created by Gaukur Úlfarsson and Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir. Ágústa Eva also plays Silvía Night on the show. Silvía Night is known for interviewing people in real-life situations. When the show first started, Silvía was not well-known. She would often surprise or even upset people with her over-the-top behavior during interviews.

Silvía Night became very famous when she represented Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. Her actions, both on and off stage, caused a lot of talk and got attention from news around the world. Her music album, called Goldmine, came out in April 2007. It quickly became the number one album on the Icelandic music charts.

About the Character

Silvía Night was created by Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir and Gaukur Úlfarsson. Ágústa Eva was a singer in the band Ske and a new actress at the time. They wanted to create a character that showed some of the less good parts of human behavior.

Silvía believes she is the most famous and talented person on Earth. She often acts like she is better than everyone else. Her full Icelandic name is Silvía Nótt Sæmundsdóttir. She was born on February 20, 1973. The name Silvía means "wood nymph," and Nótt simply means "night."

Silvía's boyfriend is named Romario Hugo Estevez. He is played by the Icelandic actor Björn Thors. Silvía loves to eat sushi and feta cheese. She dreams of becoming a famous model, singer, and movie star. She uses a lot of slang words when she talks. She also often mixes English words and phrases into her Icelandic, sometimes not quite correctly. When she was at the Eurovision Song Contest, she spoke only in English. She even made her Icelandic accent sound stronger than usual.

Silvía at Eurovision

Silvía Night was chosen to represent Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. She sang the song "Congratulations". She won the national competition in Iceland to get this chance.

The song was first in Icelandic, called "Til hamingju Ísland." This means "Congratulations Iceland." The Icelandic words were full of slang. They talked about how lucky Icelanders were that she was born there. The song also said she was going to win the contest because she was better than all the other singers.

There was some discussion about the song. It was shared online before the competition, which went against the rules. However, Silvía Night was still allowed to compete.

Silvía's song placed 13th in the semi-final. This semi-final took place on May 18 in Athens, Greece. Because she did not finish in the top 10, she did not move on to the finals on May 20.

Her Album: Goldmine

Silvía's first music album was called Goldmine. Her official website said she signed a very big record deal in Iceland. Goldmine was the number one album on the Official Icelandic Albums chart for two weeks. It reached the top spot starting on April 23, 2007. The album also had two popular songs that appeared on the music charts: "Thank You Baby" and "Goldmine."
