Silver Cascade Falls is a beautiful waterfall found in North Cheyenne Cañon Park near Colorado Springs, Colorado. It's a cool spot where water from St. Mary's Creek tumbles down a rocky cliff.
One special thing about these falls is a "spout" of water! About 50 feet (15 meters) below the top, the rock face turns upwards. This makes the water shoot out like a mini geyser, especially when there's a lot of water flowing. It can even spray more than 10 feet (3 meters) away from the rock! The water for Silver Cascade Falls starts way up in Buffalo Canyon. It flows over St. Mary's Falls first, then over Silver Cascade Falls, before joining Cheyenne Creek near Helen Hunt Falls.
Visiting Silver Cascade Falls
How to Get There
You can visit Silver Cascade Falls by taking a hike! The trail starts from the North Cheyenne Canyon road, right near the Helen Hunt Falls trail head. It's a short path, less than 0.5 miles (0.8 kilometers) long.
Trail Safety Tips
Even though the trail is short, it can be quite steep in some places. The ground might also be slippery, especially if it's wet from rain or covered in ice during winter. Always be careful where you step!
When you reach the top of the falls, be extra cautious. The granite rock face is very smooth and slippery. It's also much steeper than it looks, so it's important to stay on the marked path and not get too close to the edge.
