In this episode, Marceline the Vampire Queen (voiced by Olivia Olson) tells Finn and Jake a story. She explains that 996 years before the show's events, she and the Ice King (voiced by Tom Kenny) traveled together. Back then, the Ice King was a human named Simon Petrikov. They wandered a dangerous land after a big war called the Mushroom War.
