Her Role in Love Actually (2003)
Olivia became well-known for her part as Joanna Anderson in the 2003 holiday movie Love Actually. In the film, she sang the song "All I Want for Christmas Is You". People really loved her singing. The movie's director, Richard Curtis, said her singing was so good. He worried that audiences might not believe a ten-year-old could sing like that. They even had to train her to make her singing sound more natural. This led to her appearing on shows like The Ellen Show. She also sang with famous stars like Jack Black. In 2017, Olivia played Joanna again in Red Nose Day Actually. This was a short film that continued the story of Love Actually.
Voice Acting in Phineas and Ferb (2008–2017)
From 2008 to 2015, Olivia voiced Vanessa Doofenshmirtz in the Disney cartoon Phineas and Ferb. She worked with actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who voiced Ferb Fletcher. Interestingly, Thomas also played Joanna's crush, Sam, in Love Actually. Olivia mentioned that they often talked about their characters' funny connection in Phineas and Ferb.
In Phineas and Ferb, Olivia sang many songs. These included "Busted!" with Ashley Tisdale. She also sang popular solo songs like "I'm Me" and "Not So Bad a Dad". Olivia even wrote some songs for the show. Her father, Martin Olson, wrote over 200 songs for the series. Her role as Vanessa helped her get the part of Marceline the Vampire Queen in Adventure Time.
Becoming Marceline in Adventure Time (2010–2018)
In 2010, Olivia got the role of Marceline the Vampire Queen in the Cartoon Network series Adventure Time. Olivia liked Marceline's cool fashion style.
