Olivia Olson (born May 21, 1992) is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. She is famous for using her voice in cartoons. You might know her as Vanessa Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb. She also voiced Marceline the Vampire Queen in Adventure Time. Olivia also acted in the 2003 movie Love Actually. She played the character Joanna in that film. In 2017, she returned for a short sequel called Red Nose Day Actually.
Besides acting and singing, Olivia is also a writer. She helped write a graphic novel called Marcy and Simon. She also co-wrote Adventure Time: The Enchiridion and Marcy's Super-Secret Scrapbook. She even wrote for the Adventure Time Encyclopedia for Cartoon Network. In 2023, she started writing for the new Phineas and Ferb show.

Early Life and Family
Olivia Olson was adopted when she was a baby. She grew up in Los Angeles, California. She lives with her father, Martin Olson, her mother Kay Olson, and her brother Casey Olson. Olivia finished high school at Agoura High School in 2010. Her biological father's family is from Afro-Jamaican descent.

Her Role in Love Actually (2003)
Olivia became well-known after her role in the 2003 holiday movie Love Actually. She played Joanna Anderson and sang the song "All I Want for Christmas Is You". People loved her singing. The movie's director, Richard Curtis, said her singing was so good. They worried that people wouldn't believe a ten-year-old could sing like that. They even had to train her to make her singing sound more natural. This led to her appearing on shows like The Ellen Show. She also sang with stars like Jack Black and Kristin Chenoweth. Olivia also shared her own songs on her YouTube channel. In 2017, she played Joanna again in Red Nose Day Actually. This was a short film that continued the story of Love Actually.
Voice Acting in Phineas and Ferb (2008–2017)
From 2008 to 2015, Olivia voiced Vanessa Doofenshmirtz. This was a character in the Disney cartoon series Phineas and Ferb. She worked with Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who voiced Ferb Fletcher. Thomas had also played Joanna's friend Sam in Love Actually. Olivia mentioned that she and Thomas often talked about their characters.
In Phineas and Ferb, Olivia sang many songs. She sang a duet called "Busted!" with Ashley Tisdale. She also had popular solo songs like "I'm Me" and "Not So Bad a Dad". Her father, Martin Olson, wrote many songs for the show too. Olivia also wrote and recorded her own songs. She worked with music producers like Rick Nowels. In 2011, she sang "I Walk Away" for the movie Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension.
Her role as Vanessa helped her get the part of Marceline the Vampire Queen in Adventure Time. The show's creator, Pendleton Ward, asked Olivia's father if he knew who voiced Vanessa. He didn't know at the time that Martin was Olivia's dad! Olivia also voiced Marceline in the 2012 video game, Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!!.
Adventure Time and Steven Universe (2013–2018)
In 2010, Olivia got the role of Marceline the Vampire Queen. This was for the animated Cartoon Network series Adventure Time. Olivia liked Marceline's cool fashion style. When she auditioned, she first read for Princess Bubblegum. But then she read for Marceline. Her father, Martin Olson, played Marceline's dad, Hunson Abadeer, in the show. Olivia also sang Marceline's songs. These songs were often written by the show's artists. The Guardian newspaper praised Marceline. They said she was responsible for some of the show's best songs.
Adventure Time was very popular. Marceline became a favorite character for fans and critics. Olivia said she was proud to voice a character that pushed boundaries. She felt honored to show what a female character could be like on TV.
In the Adventure Time mini-series "Stakes", Olivia sang the popular song "Everything Stays". She and Rebecca Sugar shared this song at Comic-Con in 2015. In 2015, Olivia and her father wrote a book together. It was called Adventure Time: The Enchiridion & Marcy's Super Secret Scrapbook. Olivia wrote her part as if she were Marceline.

Olivia shares her own music on her YouTube and TikTok accounts. On July 18, 2013, she released her first music collection, Beauty Is Chaos.
From 2016 to 2019, Olivia voiced Bliss. Bliss was the fourth Powerpuff Girl in the new The Powerpuff Girls show. Fans had mixed feelings about the character at first. But many liked that Bliss brought more diversity to the show.
Recent Work (2018–Present)
On June 22, 2018, Olivia released her album Nowhere Land. She worked with K-pop producers on this project. In October 2019, she competed on The X Factor: Celebrity. She also voiced characters in Fast & Furious: Spy Racers starting in 2019. She played Jun and PizzaRave.
Olivia returned as Marceline in Adventure Time: Distant Lands (2020–2021). She also voiced Marceline in the spin-off series Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake in 2023. In the "Obsidian" episode of Adventure Time: Distant Lands, she sang "Woke Up" and "Monster".
In 2020, she voiced Vanessa Doofenshmirtz again. This was for the movie Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe. In the movie, Olivia sang "The Universe Is Against Me" with Ashley Tisdale. In 2023, it was announced that Olivia would be a writer for the new Phineas and Ferb show. She also continues to voice Vanessa in the revival, which began its fifth season in June 2025.
