Ashley Michelle Tisdale (born July 2, 1985) is an American actress and singer. When she was a child, she appeared in many commercials. She also had small roles in TV shows and plays.
Ashley became very well known as Maddie Fitzpatrick in the Disney Channel show The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2005–2008). Her fame grew even more when she played Sharpay Evans in the High School Musical movies (2006–2008). Because the movies were so popular, Ashley signed with Warner Bros. Records. She then released her first album, Headstrong (2007). This album was a big hit and sold many copies. Ashley also voices Candace Flynn in the Disney Channel cartoon Phineas and Ferb (2007–2015; 2025–present).
Ashley's second album, Guilty Pleasure (2009), was not as successful as her first. After this album, she left Warner Bros. Records. Around this time, she started acting in more movies. She also returned to TV shows like Hellcats (2010). In 2008, Ashley started her own production company called Blondie Girl Productions. In 2010, her company made a deal with Relativity Media. Through this deal, Ashley produced shows like Miss Advised (2012). She also starred in the High School Musical spin-off movie Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure (2011). She released a soundtrack for this movie too.
In 2013, Ashley announced she was working on her third album. She released a song called "You're Always Here" to promote it. She also starred in the comedy film Scary Movie 5. Early Life and Beginnings
Ashley Michelle Tisdale was born on July 2, 1985, in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Her parents are Lisa Morris and Michael Tisdale. Her father is Christian and her mother is Jewish. Ashley grew up learning about both religions. Her older sister, Jennifer, is also an actress and producer. Ashley is also related to businessman Ron Popeil.
Even though she started acting young, Ashley went to public school and worked in clothing stores. She said she didn't become famous until she was 18. She felt she had the best of both worlds, enjoying a normal school life and also working in entertainment.
How Ashley Started Her Career
When Ashley was three years old, she met her manager, Bill Perlman. He helped her get auditions for commercials. As a child, she appeared in over 100 national TV ads. She began acting in plays like Gypsy: A Musical Fable and The Sound of Music.
At eight years old, Ashley was chosen to play Cosette in the musical Les Misérables. She had only taken one singing lesson before getting the role. Ashley toured with Les Misérables for two years. After that, she acted in a touring show of Annie in Korea.
When Ashley was twelve, she sang for President Bill Clinton at the White House. To further her career, Ashley and her family moved to Los Angeles, California. In 1997, she got her first TV roles on Smart Guy and 7th Heaven. She also started modeling for Ford Models. Becoming a Star in Film and Music

Ashley's big breakthrough came when she played Sharpay Evans in the Disney Channel movie High School Musical (2006). This movie was Disney Channel's most successful film of 2006. Helping Others and Charity Work
Ashley has supported many charities throughout her career. In 2008, she worked with the Make a Wish Foundation. She visited sick children in hospitals and helped raise money. Ashley also supports Habitat for Humanity, which builds homes for people in need. She was supposed to perform on Idol Gives Back 2008. However, she couldn't because she was filming High School Musical 3: Senior Year. Instead, she and the cast recorded a video to support the cause. Ashley said that Scary Movie 5 pushed her out of her comfort zone. She plans to keep challenging herself in the future. When talking about playing Logan Rawlings on Young & Hungry (2014), she said she likes to play different characters. She wants to push her own comfort level. Her main acting inspirations include Jake Gyllenhaal, Johnny Depp, Robin Williams, and Rebel Wilson.
Ashley's music is mostly pop. It also includes ballads, dance-pop, hip hop, and rock influences. Her songs often talk about relationships and overcoming challenges. She sees her music career as a way to connect with fans and inspire them. She said that Headstrong (2007) helped her learn about herself as an artist. With her second album, Guilty Pleasure (2009), she knew exactly what she wanted to do. Ashley has named many artists who influenced her music. Personal Life
Ashley Tisdale became engaged to singer Christopher French in 2013. They had been dating for over a year. The couple got married on September 8, 2014, in a small private ceremony in Santa Barbara, California. They have two daughters, born in March 2021 and September 2024.
