Simon Merrells is an English actor who has appeared in many films, TV shows, and plays. He is well-known for playing the Roman commander Marcus Licinius Crassus in the TV series Spartacus: War of the Damned.

Early Life and Beginnings
Simon Merrells was born in London, England. He has an older brother named Jason Merrells, who is also an actor. Simon started studying drama, but he soon left to work as a taxi driver. This job helped him save money to travel to Mexico, where he enjoyed painting.
When he returned to England, Simon got involved in local theater in Brighton. His brother Jason was living there at the time. This was the start of Simon's acting career.

Simon Merrells has had a busy career, performing on stage, in movies, and on television.
Stage Performances
Simon has acted in many plays. In 2007, he performed with his brother Jason in a play called The Comedy of Errors. They played twin characters in the show.
He has worked several times with a famous director named Steven Berkoff. Their first project together was a worldwide tour of the play Coriolanus. In 2009, Simon played the character Terry Malloy in a play called On the Waterfront, also directed by Berkoff.
Simon also played Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing at the Liverpool Playhouse in 2007. Later, in 2011, he starred as Oedipus in another Berkoff play at the same theater. He was even nominated for an award for his performance as Oedipus. That same year, he played detective Philip Marlowe in The Big Sleep.

In 2009, Simon had a main role in the film Invisible Eyes. The next year, in 2010, he played Ben Talbot in the movie The Wolfman.
A big role for him came in 2013 when he played the Roman commander Marcus Licinius Crassus in the Starz series Spartacus: War of the Damned. To prepare for this role, he followed a strict diet and went through a four-week fitness training camp. He lost a lot of weight to get ready for the part. Also in 2013, he played Mark Vega in the British horror film Judas Ghost. He also appeared as The Founder in the American TV show The Tomorrow People.
In 2014, Simon starred in a science fiction film called Index Zero, playing a main character named Kurt. In 2015, he was in two more films: Billionaire Ransom and Victrix. That same year, he was a guest star in the Syfy channel series Dominion, playing a character named Julian. He also appeared in a short futuristic film called The Leap.
From 2017 to 2019, Simon Merrells played Tancrede de Hautville in the History channel's series Knightfall. He also appeared as Julius Caesar in Legends of Tomorrow from 2017 to 2018. In 2018, he played Andrus in 12 Monkeys. More recently, in 2019, he was Leslie the International Express Man in Good Omens. In 2022, he played Watchwarden Revion in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
