Simone Kues (born 8 November 1976) is a famous German wheelchair basketball player. She is known for being a key player on the German national team. Simone has won many medals, including silver at the Paralympic Games in 2008 and 2016. She also helped her team win several European and World Championship medals. Her amazing skills have made her one of the top athletes in wheelchair basketball.

Simone's Journey to Wheelchair Basketball
Simone Kues was born on 8 November 1976 in Einbeck, Germany. In 1996, she had an accident that led to her using a wheelchair. After her recovery, she started studying psychology in 1998. She later became a psychologist, working at a special hospital in Hamburg.
Simone first discovered wheelchair basketball while she was recovering. She quickly fell in love with the sport. She played for different clubs like ASC Göttingen and RBV Lüneburg. Eventually, she joined SV Hamburg, where she plays in the wheelchair basketball league.
Playing for Germany
Simone joined the German national wheelchair basketball team. She played in her first Paralympic Games in 2004 in Athens, where her team finished fourth.
Her team became very successful, winning the European Championship in 2005, 2007, and 2009. They also won a bronze medal at the World Wheelchair Basketball Championships in 2006.
In 2008, Simone and her team won a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing. This was a huge achievement! Because of their success, the women's national team was named "Team of the Year" in disabled sports. The German President, Horst Köhler, even gave them the Silver Laurel Leaf. This is Germany's highest award for sports.
Simone continued to play at the highest level. In 2014, her team won another silver medal at the World Championships in Canada. They also won their tenth European title in 2015. At the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, they earned another silver medal.
