Simone Vaturi's Skating Journey
Early Career and Partnerships
Simone Vaturi began his skating career with a partner named Serena Tancredi. They skated together for a while before he teamed up with Lorenza Alessandrini in 2007.
Success with Lorenza Alessandrini
Simone and Lorenza quickly became a strong team. They achieved fifth place at the World Junior Championships in 2010. This was a great accomplishment for them.
Later in 2010, Lorenza had an injury. She broke a rib during training, which meant they had to miss the Grand Prix season that year. Despite this setback, they came back strong. They won a bronze medal at the Italian Championships. This earned them a spot at the European Championships, where they finished 16th.
In the 2011–2012 season, Simone and Lorenza competed in their first senior Grand Prix event. This was the 2011 NHK Trophy, where they placed fifth. They also won another bronze medal at the Italian Championships.
Training in Detroit
For a long time, Simone and Lorenza trained in Italy. But in January 2012, they decided to move to Detroit, Michigan, in the United States. There, they started training with new coaches: Pasquale Camerlengo, Massimo Scali, and Anjelika Krylova. This move helped them prepare for bigger competitions. They made their debut at the senior World Championships in Nice, France, that same year.
Challenges and Partnership End
In December 2012, Simone had an injury during training. He fell while practicing a lift, which caused them to withdraw from the 2013 Italian Championships.
Simone Vaturi and Lorenza Alessandrini ended their partnership in April 2014.
Skating Programs
Ice dancers like Simone and Lorenza perform routines to music. These routines are called programs. They have different types of programs, such as a short dance and a free dance. The music they choose helps tell a story or create a mood on the ice.
For example, some of the music they used for their programs included songs from movies like Mary Poppins and The Artist. They also used classical music, like pieces from the opera Tosca.
