Sipsey is a small town located in Walker County, Alabama, in the United States. In 2010, about 437 people lived there. This was a bit less than the 552 people who lived in Sipsey in the year 2000. By 2020, the population was 363.

History of Sipsey
Sipsey was started in 1912 or 1913. It was built as a "company town" for the DeBardeleben Coal Company. This company was founded by important coal business leaders like Henry T. DeBardeleben, Milton Fies, and Nicholas M. Norris.
The town was a home for the people who worked in the nearby coal mines. The mines began producing coal in 1913. At one time, as many as 900 people lived in Sipsey.
Sipsey officially became a town on August 14, 1965.

Many different people make up the town. In 2000, most residents were White (68.12%), and a good number were Black or African American (31.34%). There were also small numbers of Native American people and people of other backgrounds.
About 33% of the homes had children under 18 living there. Many homes were married couples living together. Some homes had a female head of the house without a husband present.
The average age of people in Sipsey in 2000 was 36 years old. About 27.2% of the population was under 18.
In 2012, Sipsey elected its first Black female Mayor, Belinda McCain. She is working hard to bring new businesses and environmentally friendly projects to Sipsey.
The town has a full-time police department led by Chief John B. Jackson Jr. It also has a volunteer fire and rescue department, which helps keep everyone safe. This department is led by Chief Rodney Morgan.
