Sir Dermot Lionel Kennedy Milman (born 24 October 1912 – died 13 January 1990) was an English athlete. He was a talented player in both cricket and rugby union. He also held a special family title as the 8th Baronet of Milman.

Early Life and Sports

Dermot Milman was born in Eltham, England, in October 1912. His father, Lionel Milman, was also a cricketer and an army officer.

Dermot went to school at Bilton Grange and Uppingham School. After that, he studied at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.

Cricket Career

While at Cambridge University, Dermot played two important cricket matches. These were called first-class cricket games. He played for Cambridge University in 1932 and 1933.

He was a bowler who used a special style called "slow left-arm orthodox." In his two matches, he took 4 wickets. His best bowling was 3 wickets for 55 runs.

Besides university cricket, Dermot also played for Bedfordshire. He played in 36 matches for them between 1931 and 1936.

Rugby Career

Dermot Milman was also a strong rugby player. He played four international matches for the England rugby team.

His first game for England was against Wales in 1937. He played three more international games in 1938.

Later Life and Family

Dermot Milman served in the Royal Army Service Corps during World War II. He became a lieutenant in the army in 1939.

He married Muriel Taylor in November 1941, and they had one daughter. During the war, he was recognized for his brave service. He finished the war as a captain.

In 1962, Dermot inherited the family title of Baronet from his father. When he passed away in 1990, his brother, Sir Derek Milman, 9th Baronet, took over the title. His great-uncle, George Milman, was also a first-class cricketer.
