Sir George's Political Career
Sir George Gunning served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for several areas in England. An MP is a person elected to represent their local area in the country's parliament. They help make laws and decisions for the nation.

Sir George represented three different places during his time as an MP:
- He was an MP for Wigan from June 1800 to 1802.
- Next, he represented Hastings from 1802 to 1806.

Sir George Gunning married Hon. Elizabeth Bridgeman on February 10, 1794. Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry Bridgeman, 1st Baron Bradford. Together, they had six sons.

- Sir Robert Henry Gunning: Born in 1795, he became the 3rd Baronet after his father.
- George Orlando Gunning: Born in 1796, he was a Lieutenant in the 10th Hussars. Sadly, he died in 1815 during the famous Battle of Waterloo.
- Rev. Sir Henry Gunning: Born in 1797, he became the 4th Baronet. He was also a Reverend, meaning he was a minister in the church. He married twice.
- Captain Orlando George Gunning-Sutton: Born in 1799, he was a Captain in the Royal Navy.
- Reverend Spencer Greswolde Gunning: Born in 1800, he was also a Reverend and a Justice of the Peace. A Justice of the Peace helps keep order and deal with minor legal matters in their local area.
- Major John Gunning: Born in 1801, he became a Major in the army.
