Sir Roger de Pulesdon was an important person from Puleston, a place in Shropshire, England. He was the son of another man also named Sir Roger de Pyvelesdon. To remember his father, Sir Roger built a special stone cross, called the Puleston Cross, in Newport. This town was close to their family home.

Sir Roger's Role in Wales
King Edward I chose Sir Roger to be the very first High Sheriff of Anglesey. This happened after the Kingdom of Gwynedd (a part of Wales) was defeated by England in 1284. As Sheriff of Anglesey, Sir Roger was in charge of keeping order and representing the King's power in this new English-controlled area.
The Welsh Rebellion of 1295
Sir Roger's time as sheriff ended in 1295 during a big rebellion. This uprising was led by a Welsh leader named Madoc ap Llywelyn. Many Welsh people were unhappy with English rule.
During a sudden attack on the town of Caernarvon, Sir Roger was captured. He was killed by the Welsh rebels during this time of conflict.
