Sir Thomas Hatton was a notable figure in 17th-century England. He came from a respected family in Longstanton, Cambridgeshire. His life saw many changes in how England was governed.

His Early Life and Family

The King's Rule Without Parliament

Hatton served as an MP until 1629. At this time, King Charles I decided to rule without Parliament. This period is known as the "Personal Rule." It meant the King made decisions without asking the elected representatives. In April 1640, Hatton was re-elected for Stamford in what was called the Short Parliament.
