Early Life and Family

Sir Thomas Lee was born in 1687. He was the oldest son of Sir Thomas Lee, 2nd Baronet, who was also a Member of Parliament. When his father passed away in 1702, young Thomas became the 3rd Baronet. This meant he inherited his father's title and the family home, Hartwell House.

He had several brothers who also became well-known. These included George, John, and William.

Political Career

Sir Thomas Lee began his political journey in 1710. He was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Chipping Wycombe. He was elected without anyone running against him, which is called being "unopposed."

He continued to represent Chipping Wycombe in the general elections of 1713 and 1715. A general election is when people vote for their representatives in Parliament.

Later, in the 1722 general election, he was elected as an MP for Buckinghamshire instead. He did not run in the 1727 election. However, he returned to Parliament in 1729 after winning a special election called a "by-election." He was elected again in 1734 but did not run for office in 1741.

Family Life

In 1720, Sir Thomas Lee married Elizabeth Sandys. She was the daughter of Thomas Sandys from London. Sir Thomas and Elizabeth had two sons and one daughter. His second son, William, took over the Baronet title after Sir Thomas passed away in 1749.
