Because of his important contributions, William Hodges was given a special title. On March 31, 1697, he became a baronet, which meant he was known as Sir William Hodges.

In 1703, he became one of the people in charge of the Bank of England. This was a very important role. In 1705, he was chosen to represent the area of Mitchell in Parliament. He was chosen again in 1708 but did not run for election in 1710.
