Early Life and Music Beginnings
As a teenager, Mark Andrews worked at a place called The Fudgery in Baltimore. There, he met Larry "Jazz" Anthony, James "Woody" Green, and Tamir "Nokio" Ruffin. These four friends formed the R&B group Dru Hill. They signed with Island Records in 1996. The group got their name from Druid Hill Park, which was near where Sisqó lived.
Sisqó's Music Career
Starting a Solo Career
In 1999, after Woody left Dru Hill, the other members decided to release their own solo albums. Sisqó's first solo album, Unleash the Dragon, came out in November 1999. It started slowly but became a huge hit after the song "Thong Song" was released in 2000. "Thong Song" was very popular, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100. His next song, "Incomplete", went all the way to number one. Because of his success, a Sisqó doll was even made in 2001!
Other Projects and Dru Hill Reunion
Sisqó also formed a female group called LovHer in 1999. Their song "How It's Gonna Be" was on the Rush Hour 2 soundtrack.
For a while, Dru Hill could not reunite because Sisqó was busy with his second solo album. During this time, he hosted a dance show on MTV called Sisqó's Shakedown. He also acted in movies like Get Over It (2001) and Snow Dogs (2002). Sisqó even played a vampire on the TV show Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
His second album, Return of Dragon, came out in 2001. While it sold well overall, its songs did not do as well in the U.S. as his first album's hits. By 2002, Sisqó reunited with Dru Hill. They released their third album, but it did not sell as expected.
Later Years and New Music
Sisqó continued to appear on reality TV shows. In 2008, he was on "Gone Country." In 2010, he was a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother 7 in the UK.
Dru Hill released another album, InDRUpendence Day, in 2010. Sisqó kept touring both as a solo artist and with Dru Hill. His third solo album, Last Dragon, was released in 2015. The song "L.I.P.s" from this album reached number 23 on the US Adult R&B charts.
In 2016, Sisqó sang with country music star Marie Osmond on her song "Give me a Good Song." In 2017, he sang on a new version of his "Thong Song." He also released a children's holiday book in 2018 called "Sisqo's Perfect Christmas." In 2022, he represented Maryland in the American Song Contest. Most recently, in 2024, he was on The Masked Singer as "Lizard."
Personal Life
Sisqó has a daughter named Shaione, born in 1995. He lives in Minnesota with his wife, Elizabeth Pham. They have been together since 2003. They have two children: a son named Ryu (born 2012) and a daughter named Kimiqo Star (born 2014). In 2013, Sisqó and his wife appeared on the reality show Celebrity Wife Swap.
