The Sister Islands are two small islands located in Lake Michigan. You can find them in the bay of Green Bay, near the town of Liberty Grove, Wisconsin. Long ago, these two islands were actually connected. But over time, the water levels in Lake Michigan rose, and the islands became separate.
Together, they cover about 30.6 acres (12.4 ha). This is like the size of about 23 football fields! The islands are part of the Sister Islands State Natural Area. Many different kinds of birds come here to build their nests and raise their young. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources takes care of both islands.
Shipwreck Mystery
South of the islands, there's an old shipwreck called the Meridian resting on the lakebed. It's a cool piece of history hidden underwater!
Weather on the Islands
The Sister Islands have a climate that changes a lot with the seasons. Summers are usually warm, while winters can be very cold and snowy. The amount of rain and snow also changes throughout the year.
