The Story of SKI Soda
SKI Citrus Soda was first created in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This happened at The Double Cola Company's main office. The perfect recipe was finished on August 10, 1956. SKI was officially registered two years later, in May 1958. The drink was then sold to people that summer.
How SKI Got Its Name
When the company needed a name for the new soda, they asked their staff for ideas. An employee named Dot Myers suggested "SKI" and "SKEE." She got the idea after a fun skiing trip on Chickamauga Lake. The company managers really liked the name SKI, and it stuck!
Changes to SKI's Look
Over the years, the look of SKI soda has changed. In 1999, the SKI can and logo got a new design. It also featured the fun phrase "Taste the Wake."
In 2009, the SKI can and logo were updated again. People could even vote online for their favorite new logo design. At the same time, the Cherry SKI flavor was given a new name: "SKI InfraRED." The chosen can design came out in stores in 2009. It had a new slogan: "Real Lemon, Real Orange, Real Good!"
