The Story of Mountain Dew
The name "Mountain Dew" actually started as a slang term for homemade alcohol, like moonshine, a long time ago. But don't worry, the soft drink is totally different! The name for the soda was first officially registered by Ally and Barney Hartman in the 1940s.
Early bottles of Mountain Dew had some funny words printed on them: “Yahoo Mountain Dew…It’ll tickle your innards.” The bottles were green and featured a cartoon drawing of a hillbilly character. This original design was used until the mid-1960s.
