Slate Springs is a small village located in Calhoun County, Mississippi, United States. It is a quiet community with a rich history. In 2010, about 110 people lived here. By 2020, the population was 105.

History of Slate Springs

Slate Springs has been home to people for a long time. In 1900, there were 189 residents in the village.

By 1907, Slate Springs was an active place. It had two churches where people could worship. There was also a school for children to learn. The village had a flour mill to grind grain and a saw mill to cut wood. It even had a post office where people could send and receive money orders.

Geography of the Village

Slate Springs is located in the state of Mississippi. A main road, Mississippi Highway 9, goes right through the village.

This highway helps people travel easily. If you go north on Highway 9 for about 9 miles (14.5 km), you will reach Calhoun City. If you travel south for about 16 miles (25.7 km), you will get to Eupora.

The village covers a total area of about 1.42 square miles (3.7 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water inside the village limits.
