Sleetmute (which is Cellitemiut in the Eskimo language and Tovisq'oł in Deg Xinag) is a small community in Alaska, United States. It's called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population, but it's not officially a city or town. In 2020, 95 people lived there. This number was a little higher than the 86 people counted in 2010.

Where is Sleetmute?
Sleetmute is located in Bethel Census Area, Alaska. It sits on the east bank of the Kuskokwim River. This is about 1.5 miles north of where the Kuskokwim River meets the Holitna River.
The community is quite far from bigger cities. It's about 79 miles east of Aniak and 166 miles northeast of Bethel. The largest city, Anchorage, is 243 miles to the west.

The total area of Sleetmute is about 105.3 square miles (271.23 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, around 99.5 square miles (247.59 square kilometers). The rest, about 5.8 square miles (23.63 square kilometers), is water.

Sleetmute was first counted in the U.S. Census in 1930. Back then, it was called "Sleitmut." Its name changed slightly to "Sleitmute" in 1940. Since 1950, it has been known as Sleetmute. In 1980, it officially became a census-designated place (CDP).
In 2000, there were 100 people living in Sleetmute. Most of the people living there were Native American. The average age of people in Sleetmute in 2000 was 37 years old.

Students in Sleetmute attend the Jack Egnaty, Sr. School. This school is part of the Kuspuk School District. It teaches students from kindergarten all the way through 12th grade.

Sleetmute has even been mentioned on TV! It appeared in several episodes of the television show Northern Exposure. For example, in one episode called "Midnight Sun," a character named Dr. Fleishman coaches a basketball team. His team tries to beat the team from Sleetmute, which was known for being very good.
